ABOUT JULIA
Early Career

Julia began her career in the world of performance, research, and teaching. A classically-trained concert pianist, she graduated top of the piano class from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, pursued her PhD in London after winning several scholarships, and quickly earned international recognition for her many research publications. Of particular note is the Le Concours du prix de Rome de musique (1803-1968) - a landmark anthology co-edited by Julia and hailed by French critics as "an erudite masterpiece."
Alongside her research, Julia found great joy in teaching. As a lecturer at The University of Melbourne and Monash University, Julia was known for making complex ideas accessible, inspiring intellectual curiosity, and delivering memorable lectures. As one student remarked, "I always walked out of Julia's lectures feeling wiser and better equipped." In 2012, Julia was honoured with the Faculty of Arts Dean's Sessional Teaching Award at Monash University.

"Julia is kind, intelligent, and an incredible problem-solver. It's hard not to be inspired by her passion and drive to go big and be bold."
